As the Senior Software Engineering Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in advancing our mission to discover, inspire, and train the great problem-solvers of the next generation. In this role, you will lead complex software development projects while guiding a team of talented software engineers. This role blends technical expertise with leadership, requiring you to not only solve challenging engineering problems but also to mentor and develop your team.
The Senior Software Engineering Team Lead Will
Plan, develop, test, and implement large and complex new software programs, often requiring innovative solutions and analysis of multiple design approaches
Perform code reviews, mentor team members, and provide technical guidance to promote high standards in code architecture and design
Analyze and maintain existing software systems, proactively identifying and implementing improvements to enhance performance and functionality
Document technical processes and software architecture comprehensively to ensure consistency and maintainability across projects
Collaborate with Engineering Leadership, Product Owners, Designers, and other stakeholders to refine development strategies and ensure projects align with business goals from inception through launch
Manage team resources, allocating team members to projects based on skills and project demands, and oversee their professional development through training and feedback
Lead the maintenance of team documentation, implement process enhancements, and drive recruitment efforts for the team
Act as the primary communication conduit between the team and other parts of the organization, facilitating effective collaboration and resource sharing
Proactively manage project timelines, anticipate technical and resource-related challenges, and make necessary adjustments
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and programming practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team
The Ideal Candidate Has
4+ years of professional experience in full stack web development, with strong preference for experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript (or TypeScript), React, RDBMS such as MySQL/MariaDB or PostgreSQL, and Node.js or PHP
Strong understanding of the JavaScript language and ecosystem
Strong technical leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor and enhance team performance in a full-stack environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including handling multiple projects or tasks simultaneously and quickly adapting to changing tasks or priorities
A track record as a thought leader on product/development strategy and owner of large projects
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and creative skills
Demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience within a technical team environment
Excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical settings, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience

About AoPS Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) is on a mission to discover, inspire, and train the great problem solvers of the next generation. Since 2003, we have trained hundreds of thousands of the country's top students, including nearly all the members of the US International Math Olympiad team, through our online school, in-person academies, textbooks, and online learning systems. While our primary focus has been math for most of our history, through the years we have expanded our unique problem solving curriculum into more subjects, such as language arts, science, and computer science.
