care across inpatient and outpatient settings. This role ensures high-quality imaging, patient safety, and
compliance with departmental and regulatory standards. MRI Technologists collaborate with radiologists,
physicians, and other healthcare team members to produce accurate diagnostic images that aid in patient
diagnosis and treatment.
- Operate MRI scanners to obtain diagnostic images following physician orders and
departmental protocols. - Prepare and position patients correctly for imaging procedures; assess clinical histories and
contraindications (e.g., implants, foreign bodies). - Adjust imaging parameters and equipment settings to optimize image quality while
maintaining safety standards. - Screen patients for MRI safety and contraindications, including proper adherence to safety
zones. - Administer contrast agents and start IV access per protocol when required (where scope of
practice allows). - Monitor patients before, during, and after imaging; respond to adverse reactions or patient
needs. - Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, including imaging details,
patient histories, and safety checks. - Explain procedures clearly to patients and families, addressing questions and concerns to
ensure comfort and cooperation. - Provide compassionate, age-specific care to patients across the lifespan (neonates to
geriatrics). - Collaborate with clinical teams to coordinate patient care and achieve optimal outcomes
- Ensure strict compliance with MRI safety protocols, Joint Commission standards, and
healthcare regulations. - Participate in quality control (QC), equipment performance checks, and documentation to
support accreditation requirements. - Maintain MRI equipment functionality, report issues, and support inventory and supply
management. - Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
- Participate in continuing education, department meetings, and ongoing professional
development. - Provide training or supervision for students or new staff as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Hospital job setting: Current certification/registry such as ARRT (R) required or ARRT (MR) preferred or equivalent MRI certification; registry eligibility may be acceptable with completion within a defined timeframe.
- IDTF (Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility) job setting: Current certification/registry such as ARRT (MR) required or equivalent MRI certification.
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI program required. Prior clinical experience
performing MRI procedures preferred.
