My client is building the next generation of night vision using AI. Backed by Y Combinator (W24) and Initialized Capital, we’re developing a new class of low-light camera that replaces traditional night-vision hardware with algorithms. Our system embeds a deep learning model directly on an edge AI chip, allowing a tiny one-cubic-inch camera to reconstruct clear imagery in conditions as dark as moonless starlight (0.1 millilux) — essentially the darkest natural light environment on Earth. Running at 90 FPS while consuming just one watt, our technology enables robots, drones, autonomous vehicles, and head-mounted systems to operate in total darkness. Our goal is simple but ambitious: make it possible for machines — and eventually millions of people — to see in the dark.
The Role We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced embedded engineer to join our rapidly growing team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and optimizing software for embedded systems, with a strong focus on software bringups for custom imaging sensors, displays and other related peripherals into existing SOC/SOM packages.
Requirements
1 - 5 years of experience in embedded software engineering.
Experience with embedded Linux.
Proficiency in Embedded C (bonus for C++).
Demonstrated experience enabling and integrating sensors.
Demonstrated experience debugging low-level hardware issues.
Experience with camera driver or software-based ISP engineering.
STEM-based degree (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering).
Must be willing to be hybrid in SF.
What You'll Do
Develop, port, and optimize Linux device drivers for various peripherals and sensors.
Modify existing Android Board Support Packages (BSP) to enable custom drivers and hardware peripherals.
Collaborate closely with hardware, test, and product teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
Debug and troubleshoot complex embedded system issues across hardware and software.
Document designs, implementations, and testing procedures.
