Contributions vest immediately; state contributions fully vest after 4 years.

Bonus Programs: Employees with five years of service receive annual longevity bonuses that grow with seniority. Some positions may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.
Military Pay Differential: Employees in the guard or reserves may qualify for supplemental pay if military pay during qualifying duty is less than state pay. Prior military service may accelerate eligibility for longevity bonuses and additional personal leave accrual.

Student Loan Forgiveness: Working for the State of Michigan may enable participation in programs that forgive qualifying student loans.
