Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in Transmission Line (T-Line) design to support power delivery projects for utility, municipal, industrial, and energy‑sector clients. This senior‑level position is ideal for an engineer with deep experience in high‑voltage transmission systems, structure design, line routing, and power delivery engineering. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, project leadership skills, and familiarity with industry standards for transmission and distribution (T&D) companies.
Key Responsibilities Transmission Line Engineering & Design
Lead the design of AC /DC overhead/underground high‑voltage (HV) transmission lines (69 kV–500 kV or higher).
Perform structural analysis and loading calculations for:
Direct Embed
H‑frames
Lattice towers
Monopoles
Guyed structures
Conduct transmission line routing studies, environmental/ROW considerations, and feasibility analyses.
Develop plan & profile drawings, sag‑tension calculations, foundation recommendations, and conductor selection.
Prepare technical specifications, design reports, material lists, and construction packages.
Project Leadership & Technical Oversight
Serve as technical lead or lead engineer on transmission line projects.
Provide quality control reviews for designs, drawings, and calculations.
Coordinate effectively with civil, structural, geotechnical, and environmental teams.
Support project managers with scope development, estimating, schedule development, and client communication.
Industry Tools & Standards
Apply applicable industry standards including:
NESC
ASCE
IEEE
ANSI
Utility‑specific design criteria
Utilize industry‑standard software such as:
PLS‑CADD
PLS‑Pole
PLS‑Tower
SAG10
AutoCAD or MicroStation
Maintain working knowledge of power delivery construction methods, materials, and field practices.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Work directly with T&D utilities, power companies, and EPC partners.
Provide technical guidance and support during construction, including reviewing submittals and responding to RFIs.
Participate in field visits, site assessments, and structure staking as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) license (required at hire).
Minimum 5 years of experience in the power industry, preferably with a transmission and distribution company or T&D engineering consultant.
Proven experience with high‑voltage overhead transmission line engineering.
Demonstrated proficiency with PLS‑CADD and related design tools.
Strong knowledge of NESC and related industry codes.
Excellent communication, coordination, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with both overhead transmission and substation interfaces.
Experience working directly with IOUs, public power agencies, or regional transmission organizations.
Familiarity with EPC delivery or multi‑disciplinary design coordination.
Experience mentoring junior engineers and reviewing technical work.
Experience supporting cost estimating and proposal preparation.

Salary Range:
$117,000 - $150,000
