Respiratory Therapist

UF Health is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in Gainesville, Florida. As an integral member of our interdisciplinary care team, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions in a fast-paced hospital environment. You will perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians to optimize patient outcomes. In this role, you will manage and monitor invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, administer oxygen and aerosolized medications, perform airway clearance therapies, and obtain and interpret arterial blood gases to guide treatment decisions. You will respond to respiratory emergencies and rapid response or code situations, provide airway support, and follow established protocols to stabilize patients. You will be responsible for accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, strict adherence to infection control and safety standards, and thorough troubleshooting and maintenance of respiratory equipment. Respiratory Therapists at UF Health play a key role in educating patients and families about respiratory diseases, medication use, oxygen therapy, and home-care strategies, supporting a smooth transition across the continuum of care. You will participate in interdisciplinary rounds, contribute to care planning and discharge planning, and support quality improvement initiatives that advance clinical practice and patient safety.
