Respiratory Therapist

UF Health is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in Gainesville, Florida. As part of a comprehensive academic health center committed to high-quality care, innovative research, and outstanding education, you will play a key role in delivering evidence-based respiratory care to a diverse patient population across acute and subacute settings. In this role, you will assess, plan, and implement respiratory care treatments for patients with a variety of cardiopulmonary conditions, including chronic lung disease, acute respiratory failure, and complex post-operative needs. You will perform thorough respiratory assessments, administer oxygen and aerosol therapies, manage and monitor invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, obtain and analyze arterial blood gases, and adjust therapy in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team. You will respond to respiratory emergencies and rapid response or code events, providing airway management support and contributing to stabilization and ongoing care. As an integral member of a collaborative, inclusive, and patient-centered environment, you will partner closely with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans that align with current clinical guidelines and UF Health protocols. You will educate patients and families about respiratory conditions, equipment use, medication regimens, and self-management strategies to support safe transitions of care and optimize long-term outcomes. You will also ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, maintain and troubleshoot respiratory care equipment, and uphold strict infection-control and safety standards.
