Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a dedicated Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) to join our Emergency Services team, providing high-quality pre-hospital emergency medical care and safe patient transport within the communities we serve. As an AEMT, you will be a critical member of our frontline emergency response, delivering compassionate, advanced-level care in a fast-paced, dynamic field environment while upholding the highest standards of clinical excellence, professionalism, and patient safety. In this role, you will perform thorough patient assessments; provide advanced life support interventions within the New York State AEMT scope of practice; initiate IV/IO access, fluid therapy, and select medication administration; manage basic and advanced airways; assist with cardiac monitoring within protocol; and coordinate timely, safe transport to appropriate healthcare facilities. You will work closely with paramedics, EMTs, nurses, physicians, and dispatch personnel, communicating effectively with medical control and hospital teams to ensure seamless continuity of care from the field to the emergency department. You will respond to 911 calls and interfacility transports, prioritize scene safety, follow established protocols and standing orders, and document all care provided using electronic medical record systems in an accurate, timely, and legally compliant manner. You will be expected to operate and maintain ambulances and related emergency medical equipment, ensuring readiness, cleanliness, and proper function at all times. Responsibilities include restocking supplies, checking medications and equipment at the start and end of shifts, adhering to infection prevention and control standards, and following all regulatory and organizational policies related to EMS operations and patient privacy. Physical demands of the position include lifting, moving, and transporting patients of varying sizes and conditions, often in challenging environments and under time-sensitive circumstances.
