The Dietary Consultant at Good Samaritan Health Center plays a key role in advancing holistic health and wellness for underserved communities by providing expert, patient‑centered nutrition care. Working within our Healthcare & Medical Services department, this position partners with physicians, nurses, behavioral health professionals, and other team members to integrate nutrition into comprehensive treatment plans and community health initiatives. The Dietary Consultant conducts thorough nutrition assessments for patients across the lifespan, with particular attention to those managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. Using current evidence‑based guidelines, the consultant develops individualized nutrition care plans that consider medical diagnoses, medications, cultural preferences, food access, and financial constraints. The role includes providing one‑on‑one and group dietary counseling, helping patients set realistic goals, and supporting them through sustainable behavior change. In this mission‑driven environment, the Dietary Consultant adapts complex nutrition information into clear, practical guidance that aligns with each patient’s daily life. Education may include meal planning, label reading, portion control, culturally relevant healthy recipes, and strategies for navigating limited budgets or food insecurity. The consultant documents all assessments, plans, interventions, and progress notes accurately and promptly in the electronic health record, ensuring continuity of care and compliance with clinical and regulatory standards. Collaboration and community engagement are central to this role. The Dietary Consultant actively participates in interdisciplinary case discussions, care coordination meetings, and quality improvement efforts to improve health outcomes at both individual and population levels. The consultant also contributes to community health programs—such as group classes, workshops, and outreach events—by designing and delivering nutrition education that reflects Good Samaritan’s commitment to compassion, integrity, and wellness. Candidates will thrive in this position if they are motivated by service, enjoy building trusting relationships, and are comfortable working in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented clinic setting. Good Samaritan offers a collaborative environment that supports professional growth through continuing education, opportunities to influence program development, and ongoing exposure to a diverse range of clinical and community health needs. The Dietary Consultant is expected to stay current with developments in nutrition science and medical nutrition therapy, uphold high ethical and professional standards, and consistently model the organization’s values in interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and community partners.
