UF Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in Gainesville, Florida. As an integral member of a leading academic health center, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based respiratory care to patients with a wide range of acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. In this role, you will assess, plan, and implement respiratory care treatments, including administering aerosolized medications, providing oxygen and humidity therapy, performing airway management and suctioning, and supporting patients requiring noninvasive and invasive mechanical ventilation. You will obtain and interpret arterial blood gases, monitor patients’ responses to therapy, and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team. You will participate in emergency responses, including code blues and rapid response events, providing life-sustaining respiratory interventions in high-acuity situations. Utilizing advanced respiratory equipment and electronic medical records, you will document assessments, treatments, and patient outcomes accurately and timely, ensuring continuity and safety of care. You will play a key role in patient and family education, explaining disease processes, inhaler techniques, home oxygen use, and strategies to manage chronic pulmonary conditions, all while promoting adherence to individualized care plans. In alignment with UF Health’s culture of collaboration, innovation, and patient-centered care, you will work closely with colleagues across disciplines, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and stay current with best practices and emerging technologies in respiratory therapy. You will be supported in your professional growth with access to continuing education, involvement in academic and research activities as appropriate, and opportunities to participate in teaching and mentoring students or new team members. This position is primarily on-site within the hospital and affiliated clinical settings, requiring strict adherence to infection control standards, safety policies, and regulatory guidelines.
