Full-Time
Reports to Software Lead
About Lumia Lumia is building the next evolution in wearable health technology: Smart Earrings that translate complex physiological signals into clear, actionable insights.
We sit at the intersection of hardware, software, machine learning, and physiology. We started by serving deeply underserved communities including people with POTS, ME/CFS, Long COVID, and orthostatic intolerance, and are now expanding into a broader consumer wellness platform without losing the technical depth and scientific rigor that make us different.
Our founding team includes repeat entrepreneurs and ex‑Bose engineers. We move fast, care deeply about quality, and believe the best products come from people with taste, ownership, and strong first‑person product conviction.
The opportunity We are hiring a Senior Mobile Engineer to own and elevate Lumia's mobile experience end to end.
You will own the delivery of hero features from requirements through production release, drive seamless hardware‑to‑app connectivity that users never have to think about, level up the mobile team's execution standards, and ship Android to feature parity with iOS.
You will work directly with Product, Design, Algorithms, and Firmware teams to build a mobile experience that makes complex biometric hardware feel effortless and indispensable. This is a high‑ownership role where your fingerprints show in every release.
What success looks like
At least one complete hero feature shipped per two‑week sprint, from requirements through production with no regressions
Bug and improvement tickets move from triage to in‑release in under 6 hours on average
99%+ successful first‑time pairing and robust background data sync so users never feel the hardware layer
Mobile team execution elevated through code review standards, documented best practices, and a clear operating rhythm
Android launched at full feature parity with iOS as a stable, production‑grade experience
What you will do
Own hero features end to end from design handoff through production release, with a zero‑regression standard
Build and maintain robust BLE connectivity between Lumia earrings and the app, including background sync
Debug complex hardware and software interaction issues across the firmware and app stackSet and enforce code review standards that raise the quality floor for the whole team
Run a clear weekly and sprint‑level operating rhythm the team can execute against
Lead the Android buildout to full feature parity with iOS
Make sound architectural decisions that scale as the product and team grow
Unblock and develop other engineers through hands‑on mentorship
What we are looking for
6+ years of mobile engineering experience with strong Flutter and Dart required
Experience with BLE or other hardware connectivity protocols
Track record shipping consumer apps with high reliability and quality standards
Experience leading or mentoring mobile engineers
Health tech, wearables, or hardware‑adjacent product experience is a strong plus
How you think and work
First‑person product instinct
Bias to building
Intellectual horsepower
Calibrated judgment
You live the product, lead through doing, and treat quality as your problem rather than someone else's job. You move fast when you should and slow down when it matters.
Compensation and benefits $150K – $220K
Equity
$250K – $600K
Both ranges depend on experience and individual preference. Full health insurance, 401k, free food Fridays, and weekly pastries included.
