Acts as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for administration of the Windows Active Directory environment and the Microsoft 365 Cloud, including Teams. Responsible for support of complex Windows AD/IIS systems and troubleshooting required issues. Collaborates with Windows Systems Architects on new initiatives and support of the current production environment. Manages file, print, and application servers, including creating accounts in multiple domains, setting up print queues, troubleshooting webservers, and resolving issues. Registers and maintains domains with various registrars. Incumbent is responsible for enterprise‑level user and organizational unit management across different Active Directory Domain environments, applying professional and technical knowledge to perform broadly defined assignments and resolve complex problems independently while maintaining processes that ensure effective operation of the function. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Systems Administration: Act as SME in User Account Administration, Group Policy Administration, Directory Permissions, Active Directory Domain/OU Administration, MS Exchange User Administration, and Public Folder administration both On‑Prem and in the Cloud. Lead efforts in login script development and administration. Manage outbound facing website registration and redirects, complex scheduled scripts, IP/DHCP/DNS management, network printers, domain updates, and Web server redirects. Manage RSA SecurID user accounts, token activation, and distribution. Manage internal and external certificates and remote user access accounts and permissions. Participate in change management and administer multiple systems. Monitor disk space across all national academies’ file servers. Manage MS System Center Configuration Manager and keep workstations updated in Infoblox and AD. Collaborate with Windows Systems Architects on new initiatives. Problem Solving: Monitor trouble ticket system and administration reports daily to ensure SLA compliance. Perform Unix/Linus user administration and collaborate with DBAs on Unix‑related matters. Documents and Reporting: Create documentation, user guides, and manuals; develop and maintain user training programs. Produce, analyze, and summarize reports as required. Create scripts in Java and Perl to support applications. Research and Assessment: Research and implement new software for Unix servers. Identify trends in systems administration and provide advice on products and technology application. Confidentiality: Maintain a high standard of confidentiality for secure, privileged, or sensitive information, ensuring secure storage, disposal, and transmission per institutional guidance. Related duties and special projects as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Full working knowledge of Microsoft Back‑Office products such as SCCM and SQL databases. Experience with cloud‑based accounts and services (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS), including Microsoft 365. Experience with most phases of application systems analysis and programming. Strong DNS knowledge. Solid understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts. Good customer service and troubleshooting skills. Strong PowerShell programming ability. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills. Attention to detail. Ability to juggle multiple tasks. Ability to solve complex problems. Ability to undertake broad tasks requiring ingenuity. Ability to serve as a resource to others in resolving complex problems. Ability to work independently and exercise significant judgment. Ability to work successfully in a team environment. Ability to develop relationships with co‑workers and employees in other departments through effective communication. Excellent communication skills with all levels of employees. Minimum Education/Training Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent knowledge. Minimum Experience
Five years of related professional work experience in an information technology environment including Microsoft Windows and networking. Experience with UNIX and Linux user administration preferred. Required Licenses, Certification or Registration
Microsoft Certified Engineer (MCSE) preferred. Work Environment
Hybrid office/telecommute environment; expected onsite percentage 60%. Occasional travel between National Academies’ facilities and to off‑site meetings or sponsor locations. Work may sometimes be required during midnight maintenance windows, weekends, or long hours. 24/7 on‑call status may be required periodically. Compensation & Benefits
Estimated compensation range: $88,450 – $121,620. This is a benefits‑eligible position; benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, retirement and savings benefits, paid holidays and leave, transportation subsidies, and education assistance. Equal Opportunity Employer
