About The Role We are looking for a Solution Architect to join our Architecture & Cloud Engineering team. You will work alongside existing Solution Architects and cloud engineers to design, document, and drive the technical direction of our HCM platform. This is a high‑impact role at a pivotal moment: our HCM platform is being rewritten from PHP/Node.js on AWS to C#/.NET on Azure, and you will play a central role in shaping that effort. You will also contribute to our broader infrastructure architecture, integration strategy, and reliability goals.
What You’ll Do
Own HCM platform architecture — Design the target‑state architecture for the HCM platform rewrite from PHP/Node.js (AWS) to C#/.NET (Azure), including data layer, API design, and integration patterns.
Drive platform modernization — Define migration paths, phasing strategies, and coexistence patterns that allow us to modernize without disrupting active HCM users.
Design integrations — Architect the integration layer between HCM and Payroll, as well as third‑party connections.
Author architecture artifacts — Produce and maintain system diagrams, component models, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), data flow documentation, and deployment models.
Enable engineering teams — Shift quality left by providing clear architectural guidance, patterns, and reference implementations that product engineering teams can follow.
Support reliability & DR — Contribute to disaster recovery planning, define RPO/RTO targets, and ensure the architecture meets our 99.9%+ uptime goals for payroll‑critical systems.
Collaborate cross‑functionally — Partner with Product Engineering, Data Platform, IT Operations, and Information Security to align architecture decisions with business objectives.
Inform cloud strategy — Help consolidate our dual‑cloud footprint (Azure + AWS) and contribute to cross‑platform database strategy.
Leverage AI to accelerate outcomes — Apply AI‑assisted tooling to architecture, development, and documentation workflows, and help identify opportunities where AI can drive efficiency across the platform.
Required What You Bring
5+ years in a Solution Architect, Software Architect, or senior technical design role.
Strong experience with C# / .NET and modern application architecture patterns.
Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure (App Services, Azure SQL, Service Bus, API Management, B2C/Identity).
Experience designing and delivering API‑first, microservices‑oriented architectures.
Proven track record of legacy‑to‑modern platform migrations (monolith decomposition, re‑platforming, or rewrites).
Strong understanding of relational and document databases (SQL Server, MongoDB, or similar).
Excellent communication skills — ability to produce clear architecture documentation and present to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Experience with SOX compliance or other regulatory/audit requirements in a SaaS environment.
Comfort and enthusiasm working with AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude, Gemini) as part of daily workflows.
Highly Valued
Experience working with and migrating legacy web application codebases (PHP, Node.js, or similar) — understanding the source platform accelerates the migration.
Experience with AWS (EC2, S3, SQS, ElastiCache, Route 53) — our current HCM hosting environment.
Background in HCM, payroll, or fintech domains.
Experience with message‑based architectures (Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, Amazon SQS).
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines).
Knowledge of domain‑driven design (DDD) and event‑driven architecture patterns.
Experience applying AI and LLM‑based tools to software architecture, code generation, or technical analysis.
Nice to Have
Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification (AZ‑305) or equivalent.
Experience with Cosmos DB, Azure Front Door, or Azure API Management.
Experience scaling SaaS platforms serving 50K–200K+ users.
Exposure to AI platforms such as Palantir or similar enterprise AI/data tools.
What We Offer
A seat at the table during a defining transformation for the company.
A small, high‑impact architecture team where your work directly shapes the platform.
Collaboration with experienced peers across Architecture, Cloud Engineering, Data Platform, and Security.
Flexible work arrangements — We have offices in Oklahoma City, OK and Brook Park, OH. Candidates in those areas can work in‑office or hybrid (in the greater OKC area, we prefer at least 3 days per week in‑office). Remote work is available for candidates outside those locations.
Professional development — Every team member is expected to attend at least one conference or training per year, and we invest in keeping the team sharp.
Competitive compensation and benefits — Including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and more.
An AI‑forward culture — We actively encourage and expect team members to use AI tools (Copilot, Claude, Gemini, Palantir) in their daily work. We're early in our AI journey and looking for people who want to help us push it forward.
