Reporting to the Vice‑President Finance, Head of Global Business Services (GBS), the Senior Manager of Data Enablement and Analytics leads data governance, analytics initiatives, and a global team to transform raw data into actionable insights.
This is a full‑time, hybrid (3 days on site) position located at any of our ULS U.S. offices.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive GBS‑wide data and analytics strategy that aligns with overall business goals and priorities.
Define and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, security, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
Oversee all aspects of customer master data, including data definition, entry, governance, and integration across various systems.
Lead a team of data analysts and engineers to develop tools, dashboards (using platforms like Tableau or Power BI), predictive models, and reports that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
Mentor, guide, and manage a high‑performing team of data professionals (analysts, data engineers, data stewards), promoting a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
Collaborate with IT to optimize GBS’s data architecture, including data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL processes, ensuring data accessibility and integrity.
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, such as AI and machine learning, and assess their feasibility for enhancing data management and analytics capabilities.
Develop an execution plan to deliver process performance improvements in collaboration with Global Process Owners.
Support the Head of GBS with the development of a holistic strategy for shared services across the enterprise.
Successfully deliver multiple programs and projects that are key dependencies for the overall performance of the organization.
Manage the performance of all direct reports by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career counseling, feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and followed.
Communicate and exemplify UL’s Vision and Mission; lead, promote, and embrace change for self and future team; collaborate and build trust within the organization and with internal and external customers to meet or exceed expectations.
Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and adhere to all physical and digital security practices.
Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications
University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field; a Master’s degree (MBA, MS in Data Science/Analytics) is often preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in data management, governance, or analytics roles.
At least 2‑4 years of experience in a leadership or management capacity.
Proficiency in data analysis and programming languages (SQL, Python, R).
Expertise with BI and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
Strong understanding of MDM concepts and platforms (Informatica MDM, Oracle, D&B, etc.), data warehousing, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure).
Solid experience as a lead or participant in cross‑functional or global projects, or experience working in multiple functions or regions.
Ability to lead a team successfully and create partnerships with the business.
Strong customer service mindset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to identify and resolve issues independently.
Able to manage multiple teams within different geographic regions simultaneously.
Team player who can collaborate and communicate with people across all levels and functions.
Total Rewards Estimated salary range: $135,500 – $180,700, based on experience and location. Eligible for annual bonus with a target payout of 20% of base salary. Includes health, dental, vision and wellness benefits, 401(k) plan, and paid time off: 15 days vacation, 12 days floating holidays, and 72 hours sick time.
