Position Type: Fulltime / Hybrid

Main Purpose Of Role The Web Content and Accessibility Specialist will serve as the digital accessibility expert for the Judiciary and will be responsible for ensuring all website content and files created by the Judiciary are accessible to all users and follow Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). The role reports to the Web Services Manager, analyzes web content for accessibility, recommends changes, remediates accessibility issues, and serves as the primary contact for web-related accessibility concerns. The Specialist will provide support for external and internal websites, contribute to web projects including page creation, design, and user experience (UX) development, and serve as the liaison to local courts for accessibility-related duties, training, and consultation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide guidance and assistance to ensure all web content is accessible to all populations and oversee remediation of documents posted on the website.
Conduct in-depth testing of website pages, documents, and videos for accessibility compliance with Section 508 and WCAG criteria.
Provide support and technical assistance to content owners using the Judiciary's PDF accessibility software and web content quality assurance system.
Assist with web projects such as content creation, design, and UX development for both internet and intranet sites.
Act as the primary liaison and communicator with local courts to support and maintain accessible content on the website.
Coordinate with content owners to update and create new pages and content.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of professional web experience that included working with a content management system, website page design and content management, and experience with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), accessibility standards and guidelines, accessibility audit and quality assurance tools and processes.
Note: Professional work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Section 508 accessibility standards and guidelines.
Accessibility audit and quality assurance tools and processes.
Accessibility issues and best practices.
Assistive software and hardware resources.
Web technologies and/or web content management systems.
HTML, CSS, and other development/programming tools; ability to design, modify, and troubleshoot.
Job Access with Speech (JAWS) and NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA); CommonLook.
Additional Skills
Conducting accessibility testing on multiple platforms and browsers including iOS and Android mobile devices.
Working directly with people from diverse backgrounds and cultivating positive relationships.
Microsoft Office Suite or related software, including design and use of spreadsheets and documents.
Adobe Creative Cloud products (e.g., Acrobat, Photoshop).
Problem solving website-related issues.
