We seek candidates who are motivated, innovative, self‑disciplined and confident in a demanding, fast‑paced environment. Successful candidates will be responsible for all phases of engineering production and BIM for various projects, from programming through construction administration, including interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating design and production efforts for large or complex projects.
Annual pay range:
$125,000 to $160,000
(varies with experience and knowledge).
What You’ll Do
Design electrical systems for facilities for Sandia National Lab, government, and private clients.
Provide conceptual and detailed design for facility power distribution (≤600 V), site power distribution (≤15 kV), emergency power generation, grounding and lightning protection, lighting design, telecommunications (voice/data), fire alarm/mass notification, security, access control, and special systems.
Provide supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications.
Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work.
Prepare fee proposals for engineering design work.
Work with other engineering disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule and budget commitments, and maintain attendance and punctuality standards.
Write and edit specifications.
Lead a design team, including directing and mentoring junior engineers and designers, delegating work, and managing the local team.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or architectural engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
12 years of experience in facility electrical engineering design.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
Proficiency with REVIT/AutoCAD.
Extensive knowledge of electrical regulatory codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEE.
Experience with electrical calculation tools (lighting software such as AGi32, Elum Tools; power software such as SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
Ability to travel as needed.
Client projects require U.S. citizenship.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with Sandia National Lab or Department of Defense clients.
