Welcome to Holdsworth School, nestled in the heart of Burnley, Lancashire! We are dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for up to 48 pupils aged 5 to 18 with complex needs. As a Tutor, you will play a vital role in enhancing the wellbeing and learning readiness of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the improvement of wellbeing, resilience, and behaviour management.
• Collaborating with the education team to help students overcome barriers to learning.
• Promoting positive learning behaviours.
• Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
• Delivering engaging enrichment activities.
• Assisting in lessons to address academic, emotional, or behavioural needs.
• Responding to immediate concerns and clarifying situations.
• Creating and collating information related to lessons and interventions.
• Preparing information for meetings about pupils.
• Advocating for the ethos of Holdsworth School.
• Leading on Reading and Phonics, tracking student progress.
• Developing the Pupil Voice initiative in collaboration with SLT.
• Building relationships with parents/carers and supporting transitions.

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, along with sound IT skills.
• Previous experience in a similar role, such as HLTA.
• Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
• Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas like Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, or School Yoga.
• Knowledge of behaviour management techniques.
• A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
