Please Join Us as an AREA SALES MANAGER - Lancashire, N & W Yorkshire, Greater Manchester
As an Area Sales Manager, you will lead a team of Business Advisers within your region, overseeing all aspects of their employee life cycle—from recruitment and development to engagement and succession planning. You will provide clear direction and empower your team through effective coaching, prioritisation, and feedback, addressing underperformance when needed. Your role includes driving profitable growth and market share through strategic area planning, budget and account management, and execution of agreed strategies. At least 50% of your time will be spent in the field, focusing on coaching and development during visits with Business Advisors
and key customers from regional accounts and major retailers.
Position
As an Area Sales Manager, you will:
Lead and develop a high-performing team of Business Advisers, managing the full employee life cycle (recruitment, development, engagement, succession planning, and exit) Provide clear direction and coaching, holding regular 1:1 meetings to review goals, growth areas, career aspirations, and well-being, while addressing underperformance effectively Create and implement an Area Sales Plan to drive profit, distribution, availability, share growth, and ROI in line with company and regional objectives Analyse data and market trends to identify opportunities and threats, ensuring alignment with strategic and tactical plans Manage budget allocation and spending, maximising return on investment and ensuring efficient resource deployment Develop and execute operational plans, including people resource planning, monitoring KPIs, and communicating team performance regularly Build and maintain strong relationships with key shop owners, regional accounts, and internal stakeholders to drive category growth and collaboration Collect and share feedback and insights from the field to inform regional priorities and support continuous improvement across the business
Requirement
Good standard of education (degree level preferred)
Proven experience in people management and leadership (essential) Commercial Experience: Account management and FMCG background (preferred) Experience with Nicotine Pouches, Reduced‑Risk Products, and associated RTM models (preferred) Leadership & People Development, Influencing & Relationship Building, Commercial Acumen, Planning & Organisation, Project Management, Coaching Capability, Analytical Thinking; Proactive & Innovative Mindset Strong teamwork orientation with confident and assertive approach Regular travel required across the defined Area to support team development, customer engagement, and execution excellence (M62 / NW Area, e.g. Lancashire, N & W Yorkshire, Greater Manchester) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Fluent English speaker and writer
