Summary/Primary Role:
The Gastroenterologist is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and liver. This role provides primarily outpatient care, performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary care team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with gastrointestinal, hepatic, pancreatic, and biliary disorders.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including:
- Upper endoscopy (EGD)
- Colonoscopy
- Polypectomy
- Biopsy and hemostasis procedures
- Manage chronic GI conditions such as IBS, IBD, GERD, liver disease, and colorectal cancer screening.
- Interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory results, imaging, and pathology reports.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans based on current clinical guidelines
Qualifications :
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency.
- Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology fellowship.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
- Active and unrestricted New York State medical license (or eligibility for licensure).
- Current DEA registration.
- Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care.
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with electronic medical record systems.
May supervise Advanced Practice Providers (NPs or PAs) within the Gastroenterology Department.
Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time role requiring a minimum of 30 hours per week, with an average expectation of 40 hours, including overtime as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
Compensation :
Base annual salary range: $400,000 $600,000. Compensation may be adjusted based on location, specialty, experience, credentials, and internal equity. A comprehensive benefits package is also offered.
Travel Requirements:
Travel between office locations may be required.
Work Environment:
Primarily clinical office setting, with inpatient and/or procedural responsibilities. Fast-paced, patient-focused environment requiring professionalism and ability to manage multiple priorities.
