Responsibilities Senior Manager, Software Engineering (Modernizing Medicine, Inc.; Boca Raton, FL): Provide technical leadership, collaborate with architects and software engineers towards the development of software products, and ensure employee growth and retention goals. Work with software engineers to develop and/or confirm architecture decisions, design decisions, and implementation approaches. Work with internal customers and product management to identify and clarify product requirements. Manage scope and deliverables for the technical side of the product roadmap. Direct team members to focus on highest‑priority/highest‑impact projects and development tasks. Identify, review, and incorporate opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies. Drive the adoption of high‑value improvements within the team. Accurately document solutions and scope projects while ensuring that commitments are met. Collaborate across teams and disciplines to solve problems and resolve technical debates. Assist director in formulating new strategies for building a high‑performing engineering organization. Lead recruiting efforts. Track and enhance the overall health of the engineering organization. Supervise 7 full‑time employees (Senior Software Engineer 1 and Senior Software Engineer 2) and 5 contractors (Software Engineering Consultant and Associate Quality Assurance Consultants). Telecommuting permitted from within the U.S.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, plus five (5) years of experience as a Software Engineering Manager, Software Engineer, or related occupation.
Must Have Experience
Managing engineering teams in a web‑based application/service environment;
Directing and mentoring others in engineering disciplines and best practices;
Engaging with cross‑functional teams to resolve issues and design solutions using critical thinking, and best practices;
Agile/Scrum development methodology;
Object‑oriented design, SQL, and relational databases; and
Application lifecycle management tools for source control, continuous integration and deployment, and areas of testing (unit, integration, load, performance, and vulnerability).
