Washington D.C. (hybrid onsite) 125 - 145K + benefits Overview As a Database Administrator, working with Oracle and other databases, you will support the design, implementation, automation, and optimization of enterprise database systems. This role blends foundational database administration, architectural thinking, and analytical problem-solving with emerging coding and automation skills. You will work within a collaborative environment to ensure database reliability, performance, and scalability while contributing to continuous improvement of data infrastructure. About the Role This role involves supporting the design, implementation, automation, and optimization of enterprise database systems. Responsibilities Configure, maintain, and optimize database systems (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redshift, MySQL) Support database setup, including provisioning and configuration of new database environments Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis Assist in designing scalable and efficient database architectures Write, test, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database functions Generate and manage DDL scripts for schema creation and modifications Develop basic automation scripts using Python or shell scripting for database operations Support automation of routine tasks such as backups, monitoring, and data processing Assist in building monitoring and alerting solutions for database environments Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to support data operations Apply database design principles, including normalization and data integrity best practices Contribute to documentation and standardization of database and automation processes Participate in troubleshooting and support activities, including potential on-call rotation Requirements Ability to pass a Public Trust Background Investigation Bachelor’s degree 2+ years of relevant experience Oracle SQL and Databricks Experience with database administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of relational databases Proficient in SQL xywuqvp query writing, including writing, debugging, and optimizing simple queries Experience with Python or scripting languages for automation (academic or project experience acceptable) Exposure to database automation concepts, such as scripting routine tasks, monitoring, or ETL processes Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working within collaborative, iterative development environments Understanding of database design principles, including normalization and data integrity concepts Backup, recovery, and database performance tuning concepts Basic knowledge of multiple database platforms (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift) is a plus Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new database technologies and tools
