You will be joining a commercially driven team working across a live and diverse portfolio of construction projects. The work spans multiple sectors, offering consistent variety in project type, scale and complexity — from healthcare and education builds through to commercial and industrial schemes across the Galway and wider Connacht region.
The business operates a collaborative working culture where commercial staff are given real ownership of their projects and are supported by experienced senior leadership. There is a genuine emphasis on developing capability from within, which means you will be trusted to take the initiative while having access to guidance and mentorship when needed.
As part of a growing contractor, you will work closely with site and project management teams, subcontractors and clients throughout the full project lifecycle. This exposure gives you a well‑rounded commercial experience, from pre‑contract cost planning through to final account settlement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all commercial and cost management activities across assigned construction projects from pre‑contract through to final account.
- Prepare and submit interim valuations, variations and claims in a timely and accurate manner.
- Procure, appoint and manage subcontractors, including preparation of subcontract documents and monitoring of subcontract accounts.
- Carry out cost reporting and forecasting, providing regular updates to the project and commercial team.
- Administer contracts in accordance with the relevant conditions, ensuring compliance and timely resolution of commercial matters.
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities across your project portfolio.
- Liaise with clients, design teams and consultants to progress commercial matters effectively.
- Support junior team members and contribute to a positive commercial team culture.
WHAT YOU NEED
- Minimum 2 years' post‑graduate experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
- Degree‑qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
- Solid understanding of standard forms of contract and construction procurement processes.
- Proven ability to manage subcontract accounts, valuations and final accounts independently.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Ambitious, self‑motivated and keen to develop within a growing commercial team.
