Job Summary The Business Intelligence Analyst is a mid-level position responsible for obtaining, developing, and analyzing data, proving or disproving hypotheses, and developing insights. The analyst consults with customers to develop business requirements and provide solutions and approaches to analytic needs, works under general direction, and mentors associate analysts. The role is part of Finance & Actuarial Division’s Actuarial Services Product Team – F&A Portfolio.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
Collaborate with technical resources, business resources, and business owners to define hypotheses/questions, gather, develop, validate, and analyze data and requirements in support of business operations.
Conduct moderately complex SQL queries and work with reporting and analytic tools to validate and develop analysis and reporting.
Develop plans to evaluate hypotheses/questions and measure performance.
Produce and maintain models and data using corporate software tools.
Partner with business, IT, and customers to ensure design, execution, presentation, and distribution of actionable insights meets management requirements.
Job Qualifications
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in economics, quantitative business analysis, applied mathematics, statistics, management information systems, actuarial science, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in financial services and/or research and analytics or 2+ years in the actuarial field.
Intermediate skill in analytics tools (SAS, SPSS, Minitab, R, etc.) in a corporate environment.
Intermediate skill in designing and executing complex statistical modeling and testing involving linear and non‑linear regression techniques (CHAID, CART, ANOVA, MANOVA, LOGISTIC, T‑TEST, etc.).
Intermediate skill with relational databases, data warehousing, data mining, and OLAP.
Experience in experimental design and impact assessment.
Other Critical Factors
Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational, planning, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work with urgency on multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to work independently within a stated objective.
Ability to use technology to create reports and secure information necessary for decision making in a consumable format for customers.
Additional Information
This position offers a flexible work arrangement, allowing work on‑site and/or remotely from the Minneapolis, MN area.
