About the Department Macalester College's Information Technology Services (ITS) department offers comprehensive services to support the campus community’s technological needs, including project management, systems consulting, software implementation and maintenance, database management, data reporting, and management of the campus network, telecommunications systems, central servers, and information security architecture.
Responsibilities
Provide primary technical support and system administration for assigned applications and associated infrastructure; serve as the primary technical point of contact with vendors.
Collaborate closely with campus stakeholders to understand business processes, provide documentation and training, and identify opportunities to improve existing workflows.
Serve as Tier 2/3 technical lead for application‑related issues, diagnosing root causes across application, database, and server layers to implement reliable, long‑term solutions.
Lead execution of system upgrades, patches, and environment refreshes; conduct rigorous testing and validation in coordination with functional teams.
Develop, configure, and maintain integrations between enterprise systems; use scripting to automate routine administrative tasks.
Maintain strong service orientation by collaborating with the broader ITS team to ensure effective computing support and system security.
Perform other assigned responsibilities, support team initiatives, and provide backup support to other team members.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
3–5 years of experience supporting enterprise or SaaS applications in a professional environment.
Proficiency with MS SQL Server or similar.
Proficiency using scripting languages for automation and data handling.
Experience supporting enterprise application installations, upgrades, and complex troubleshooting.
Strong analytical skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical partners.
Compensation The annual salary for this position is $67,320 to $70,380, depending on experience.
