About Greenboard
At Greenboard, we’re building the future of financial compliance. Greenboard is the unified, AI-native compliance operating system for RIAs, fintechs, private funds, hedge funds, and more. It replaces the fragmented mix of legacy tools and automates more than previously possible. By centralizing data and workflows, Greenboard helps firms reduce regulatory risk, simplify their technology stack, modernize how they run compliance, and save money. Our founding team includes engineers who have scaled products at Amazon, Google, and multiple unicorn startups. We’re backed by Y Combinator, General Catalyst, Base10, and other top-tier investors, and have raised over $20M to date. Brand-name financial institutions already rely on Greenboard — and we’re growing fast. About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help build and scale our data platform as we grow. This is a high-impact individual contributor role focused on shaping how data flows through our systems — from production services to analytics and customer-facing features. You’ll work across our stack (AWS, internal services, and application data) to ensure data is reliable, well-structured, and usable across the company. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys operating in ambiguity, building foundational systems, and working closely with engineering, product, and business teams. What You’ll Do
Build and Own Data Systems
Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that ingest data from application systems, APIs, and internal services.
Develop workflows for both batch and near real-time data processing.
Work across AWS-based infrastructure to manage data movement, storage, and transformation.
Model and Serve Data
Design and maintain clean, well-structured datasets for analytics, internal tools, and product use cases.
Support both analytical workflows and operational/product-facing data needs.
Ensure data is easy to understand and reliable for downstream consumers.
Support Product & Customer Data
Build and maintain pipelines that power customer-facing features (e.g., reporting, exports, in-product data).
Partner with product and engineering teams to integrate data directly into the product experience.
Ensure correctness and reliability of data exposed to customers.
Own Data Reliability & Observability
Monitor pipeline health and debug issues across systems.
Implement logging, alerting, and observability best practices.
Improve system reliability and reduce data downtime.
Shape the Data Platform
Help define architecture and best practices for our evolving data platform.
Standardize patterns for ingestion, transformation, and data modeling.
Evaluate and introduce new tools and technologies where appropriate.
What We’re Looking For
4–7 years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering, or similar IC roles.
Strong SQL skills and experience working with production data.
Proficiency in Python (or similar) for building data pipelines and services.
Experience working in cloud environments (preferably AWS).
Experience building data platforms from early stages or in fast-growing startups.
Strong understanding of data modeling for both analytics and operational use cases.
Experience building or maintaining production data pipelines and debugging issues.
Comfortable working across systems — including application databases, APIs, and internal services.
Ability to operate independently and make pragmatic decisions in ambiguous environments.
Clear communicator who can collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
Experience with Elastic Search or Opensearch
Experience supporting customer-facing data features or reporting.
Exposure to data governance, privacy, or compliance (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR).
Experience evaluating or implementing data tooling (e.g., orchestration, transformation frameworks).
Benefits
Salary range: $180,000–$270,000 + meaningful equity
401(k) with 5% company match
Medical, dental, and vision coverage
15 days PTO + 11 company holidays + flexible sick time
2 additional PTO days for each year of service (up to 10 additional days)
10 remote days per year plus additional around the holidays
Bi-annual off-sites and team retreats
Front-row seat to building the operating backbone of modern finance
