Overview The Web Applications Tax and Reporting development team in the Information Technology division is hiring a Jr. Front-end Applications Developer. In this role you will design and develop front-end services for web applications using React.JS, JavaScript, and REST APIs in a microservices environment. You will work closely with senior developers and cross‑functional teams to implement new features, troubleshoot issues, and ensure a consistent user experience.
Work Hours 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, 40‑hour week, Monday‑Friday. Occasionally additional hours on evenings, weekends, and holidays, including 24‑hour on‑call rotations.
Teleworking Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must have permanent residency within Texas and be able to meet in‑office requirements as required by the section. Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience in the design and coding of web applications utilizing React.JS and JavaScript.
Experience in web development technologies and platforms (e.g., Apache, React.JS, microservices).
Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited community college/university with an associate or higher degree in computer science or web development.
Experience with modern JavaScript microframeworks (React.JS, Vue.JS).
Experience with 508 compliance, specifically for responsive design/mobile.
Understanding of Service‑Oriented Architecture and microservices.
Substitutions Graduation from an accredited four‑year college/university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field can substitute for work experience.
In This Role You Will
Develop routine coding tasks in React.JS, JavaScript, and related technologies based on business requirements.
Develop test cases and integration testing of applicable changes based on requirements.
Assist in analyzing software problems and solutions.
Adhere to established architecture, design, and coding standards.
Assist in performing research and analysis to define specifications for current or proposed software applications.
Prepare detailed diagrams/documentation to capture application workflow logic.
Participate in Agile Scrum team status, planning, and review sessions.
Participate in structured peer reviews/walkthroughs.
Perform all other related duties as assigned, including responding to problems in an on‑call situation 24 hours a day during a rotation.
Salary Salary is contingent upon qualifications and experience.
