This role is a senior management position in Cpac Modular, reporting to the Director of Construction.
Role Overview
The Commercial Manager will have overall responsibilities for the provision of tasks across employees in the Commercial Department. This role will have both internal and external responsibilities across company departments and be a point of contact externally regarding client relationships, ongoing projects and provision of information and reporting to senior management. The role holder will have exposure to and influence all areas of the construction and operations teams across the company.
Strategic Leadership & Commercial Oversight
Lead and manage the commercial team.
Establish clear performance objectives, KPIs, and succession planning within the commercial department.
Foster collaboration between estimating, procurement, and quantity surveying teams for seamless project delivery.
Support in the assessment of current supply chain competence and development of a sustained and reliable country wide supply chain.
Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company objectives and project delivery goals.
Ensure all commercial activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
Provide commercial insight and direction to senior management to support business growth and profitability.
Oversee financial performance of projects, ensuring revenue targets, margins, and cash flow objectives are met.
Ensure lessons learned are captured from successful and unsuccessful bids.
Approve procurement plans, supplier selections, and major purchase orders or subcontract agreements.
Lead and oversee cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting for all projects.
Provide early warning and mitigation strategies for commercial and contractual risks.
Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and management of all major project contracts.
Ensure proper risk allocation and management within contracts and subcontracts.
Support client relationship management and participate in key client negotiations.
Represent the company in external meetings with clients, partners, and suppliers
Collaborate with project managers and directors to ensure alignment of commercial and operational goals.
Education
At minimum, level 8 Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
Experience
A chartered member of a recognised professional institution such as SCSI, RICS etc is preferred.
Have 10+ years in commercial/QS experience.
Previous experience in personal management.
Previous experience in a regulated industry, construction, healthcare, pharma etc.
Contractually aware and knowledgeable in managing claims and disputes.
Experienced in procurement and supply chain management.
Experience using a variety of IT software packages.
Experience in presenting financial or commercial reports.
Additional Requirements
Excellent communication skills are essential for success in this position.
The role holder must be capable of maintaining confidentiality regarding sensitive organisational and commercial information.
