Strategic Grid Manager

A leading organisation in the energy and infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Strategic Grid Manager to join their Commercial function. This is a key leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering a strategic grid plan to enable a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects to connect efficiently to the electricity transmission network.

Working across a large and evolving pipeline that includes wind, solar, storage, thermal, and emerging technologies, this role will be instrumental in unlocking commercial value and supporting the transition to a more sustainable energy system.

The Role

The Strategic Grid Manager will lead the planning and development of integrated generation and infrastructure initiatives, ensuring alignment with long-term business strategy and national energy priorities. This role focuses heavily on early-stage commercial development, partnership building, and driving optimal infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of a comprehensive grid and infrastructure strategy aligned with national policy and future energy needs
• Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders including regulatory bodies, government agencies, and industry partners
• Collaborate with key infrastructure stakeholders to align on requirements, timelines, and investment strategies
• Drive commercial negotiations and manage complex contracts to deliver optimal outcomes
• Develop investment roadmaps in partnership with finance teams to support scalable and sustainable growth
• Work cross-functionally with engineering, grid, and planning teams to ensure deliverability of infrastructure plans
• Represent the organisation in industry forums, consultations, and public engagements
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering innovation and collaboration

About You

• Degree in xcfaprz Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field
• 10+ years’ experience in energy or large-scale infrastructure projects
• Strong expertise in electricity transmission grid planning and development
• Deep understanding of Irish regulatory and planning frameworks
• Proven track record managing complex projects and stakeholder environments
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in contracts, procurement, and negotiations
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) is advantageous
