This position is split between on-site and office-based work and requires someone who is, or can become, an approved ESB commissioner.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of HV commissioning engineers on transmission and distribution projects.
Act as technical authority for commissioning issues and support multiple ongoing projects.
Build, mentor, and develop a growing commissioning team.
Work with senior management to expand capabilities and explore new business opportunities.
Identify training needs, arrange courses, and provide in-house training where necessary.
Train new hires on-site until fully competent to work independently.
Ensure HV Safety Rules are updated and aligned with industry and statutory requirements.
Define work scopes, monitor delivery, and manage programme milestones and deadlines.
Oversee vendor FAT/SAT activities and attend when required.
Communicate clearly with internal teams, vendors, and client stakeholders.
Participate in project meetings and provide technical input.
Manage preparation and approval of commissioning documentation, including Test Protocols and Compliance Statements.
Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory and client standards for final sign-off.
Requirements
Strong HV commissioning experience, ideally within substation and protection systems.
Proven leadership experience within technical or engineering teams.
Excellent understanding of HV safety standards and compliance.
Strong planning, scheduling, and project management skills.
Competent in preparing and reviewing technical documentation.
Strong communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
Willingness to travel to sites nationwide. xcfaprz
