Schedule: Full-time, M-F, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (Day Shift, 8 hours)

(Flexible scheduling options considered: part-time, 2 weeks on/2 weeks off, month on/month off, etc.)

Overview

Join a supportive IHS Optometry Clinic serving rural and native health communities. The clinic currently operates two exam lanes and sees an average of patients per day, with appointment lengths ranging from minutes depending on visit type.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine comprehensive eye examinations
• Perform acute evaluations for eye irritation and foreign bodies
• Provide glaucoma screening and treatment
• Conduct diabetic retinopathy screenings using a JVN imaging system
• Refer patients to specialty ophthalmology services as needed
• Collaborate with support staff to manage clinic operations and patient flow

Support Staff

• One Medical Support Assistant (MSA) responsible for:
• Operating the JVN machine for diabetic retinopathy screening
• Managing eyeglass ordering and repairs
• General clinic support and coordination
• One Optometry Technician position currently vacant

Requirements

• Active state optometry license (willing to obtain any state license)
• Experience in native or rural health preferred
• DEA, CSR, and other certifications as applicable (TBD)
• Previous experience in similar outpatient or community health settings preferred

Additional Details

• Credentialing: 60 days
• Patient population: Bread and butter patients, primarily routine eye care
