Job Description
ProService Hawaii is looking for a Retirement Services Consultant to serve as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for our Multiple Employer Retirement Plan (MEP). This is a high-ownership role where your expertise in 401(k) administration and ERISA compliance will directly shape the retirement plan experience for thousands of employees across Hawaii. You’ll balance hands-on client support with strategic compliance oversight—anticipating needs, resolving complex issues, and driving continuous improvement in how ProService delivers retirement benefits.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
Manage vendor relationships and coordinate all aspects of plan administration, new client onboarding, and compliance tracking
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and internal teams—delivering expert guidance on 401(k) plan operations, eligibility, and regulatory requirements
Lead execution of key compliance milestones including nondiscrimination testing, year-end audits, and Form 5500 filings by IRS deadlines
Facilitate engaging training and enrollment sessions to educate clients and internal stakeholders on retirement plan fundamentals
Maintain and update internal HRIS systems with 100% accuracy to reflect retirement plan and client changes
Resolve retirement-related inquiries with urgency and precision—meeting or exceeding established service-level commitments
Identify opportunities to enhance plan operations, anticipate client needs, and contribute to participant growth in the MEP
IS THIS ROLE RIGHT FOR YOU?
We want you to walk in with clear eyes, so here's an honest look at what this role is — and what it isn't.
This is a compliance-heavy, client-facing role where accuracy and follow-through are non-negotiable. You’ll be managing annual regulatory deadlines, complex plan documents, and a wide range of client inquiries—often simultaneously. The work is detail-intensive, deadline-driven, and requires you to be the most knowledgeable person in the room on 401(k) administration.
That said, this isn’t a back-office-only role. You’ll be regularly presenting to clients, training internal teams, and building relationships with vendors and fiduciary committees. It’s also not a role where you can wait to be told what’s next—success requires proactively identifying compliance risks, escalating issues early, and keeping multiple workstreams on track without heavy direction. If you need a highly structured environment with close supervision, this likely isn’t the right fit. We expect you to own the plan.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TEAM
We don't measure candidates by résumé alone. We're looking for people who hold themselves to a standard most don't, take feedback as fuel, and are wired to own their results. We’re looking for someone with deep 401(k) expertise, a service-first mindset, and the organizational discipline to manage complex compliance work across multiple clients.
Demonstrated expertise in 401(k) retirement plan administration, ideally including MEP experience. You can speak fluently to plan documents, eligibility rules, vesting schedules, ERISA requirements, and the nondiscrimination testing process.
You operate with a high standard of integrity and accuracy. You protect confidential information and hold yourself to the same standard you’d expect from anyone handling your own retirement.
You communicate complex information clearly—to any audience. Whether you’re presenting at a fiduciary committee meeting or answering a client’s enrollment question, you translate technical details into language that lands.
You’re highly organized and proactively manage competing; compliance driven deadlines. You build timelines and flag risks early.
You’re a service-driven problem solver who goes beyond the surface. You research across systems, partner with vendors when needed, and don’t close out an inquiry until the root cause is resolved.
WORK LOCATION
We welcome applications from candidates based in Hawaii, who would work a hybrid schedule (in-office Tuesday–Thursday, option for remote Monday & Friday).
COMPENSATION
The base compensation for this position is $84,000 – $116,000 annualized, depending on experience and qualifications.
