Torch Technologies is seeking a Data Scientist to support USSPACECOM; the position requires an individual possessing a wide range of skills and demonstrated experience; collecting, interpreting, and analyzing data using various analytical methods and statistical techniques. The individual will work with combatant command staff and stakeholders to conduct technology transfers, strategic analysis, develop combatant command strategies, policies, procedures, and frameworks.
Responsibilities
Support Technology Transfers between external partners and USSPACECOM Headquarters.
Develop containerization and deployment pipelines for various software.
Support system planning, technical roadmaps, architecture development, and integration strategies aligned with acquisition milestones.
Support planning, development, integration, and sustainment of complex software systems.
Review software requirements, architectures, and technical artifacts for compliance and traceability.
Contribute to system-level risk identification and mitigation.
Design and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab, Azure DevOps, and Ansible.
Apply DoD security frameworks including STIGs and NIST controls within cloud and containerized environments.
Lead secure network architecture planning including subnetting, routing, load balancing, and zero‑trust principles.
Determine what question, if answered, would present the most value to USSPACECOM.
Develop the most valuable data product for data analytics.
Develop high‑quality models, techniques and tools to solving USSPACECOM most vexing problems.
Research and develop statistical learning models for data analysis.
Collaborate with combatant command stakeholders to understand combatant command needs and devise possible solutions.
Keep up‑to‑date with latest technology trends.
Communicate results and ideas to senior leader key decision makers.
Implement new statistical or other mathematical methodologies as needed for specific models or analysis.
Optimize joint development efforts through appropriate database use and project design.
Job Requirements
U.S. Citizenship
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
5+ years practical experience with SAS, ETL, Data processing, Database programming and Data Analytics.
Active secret level clearance
Substantial background in CLOUDERA/Apache Hadoop/Apache products.
Expertise in Cloud technology, cloud employment experience
Experience developing in JAVA, Python, R and SQL.
Able to understand various data structures and common methods in data transformation.
Experience with CI/CD
Implemented DevSecOps controls (DoD CIO & AF CSO)
Skills developing correlative data models that support descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics.
Proficient in data security management
Competency in Agile Development
Preferred Requirements
Active TS/SCI clearance
Experience with open platform (Kubernetes/Istio), microservice/service mesh architectures, and leverage event-driven behavior across the entire portfolio
Space experience at operational/theater level (e.g. Combatant Command, Joint/Combined Task Force, Component)
Experience with Palantir MAVEN Smart Systems ontology and design development
Experience in supporting USSPACECOM, AFSPACE, NAVSPACE, MARFORSPACE, or SMDC/ARSPACE operations and/or exercises
Ability to visualize data in the most effective way possible for a given project or study
Experience working on classified networks and interfacing with military staffs at the operational and strategic level
Extensive background in data mining and statistical analysis.
Machine learning experience and/or Artificial Intelligence experience.

Salary Range - Colorado:
$130,000-160,000
