Job Overview
Pacific Life is investing in its global network and security to support its digital transformation journey. We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join a small team in our Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, NE location. The role is hybrid and involves designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting a growing network infrastructure while collaborating with the corporate security team to build protective controls for our environment. Responsibilities
Implement products, platforms, software, hardware, or appliance-based solutions related to network and network security. Interface with management and vendors to develop and implement new solutions that meet business requirements. Design and manage the rollout of various network infrastructures, including capacity planning, performance tuning, and configuration optimization. Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations. Maintain network security across the global enterprise; analyze networks for security threats, monitor for breaches, and investigate violations when they occur. Use network tools for administration, maintenance, automation, and visualization reporting. Develop technical documentation describing the deployment, configuration, and management of network infrastructure. Participate in IT security audits, respond to audit findings, and ensure required controls are implemented. Build strong relationships outside of IT to understand business needs, communicate complex details in an understandable way, and advocate for end users and stakeholders. Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of experience in IT, configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS). Advanced technical skills with L2 and L3 protocols and technologies such as IPSec, DMVPN, BGP, OSPF, VPC, QoS, 802.1x, and familiarity with Cisco IOS, IOS‑XE and NXOS. Experience with platforms including NetScaler, F5, Riverbed, Palo Alto, Cisco Catalyst, ISR, ASR, Nexus, ASA/FTD; Cisco ACI is a plus. Understanding of open‑source and other tools for monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance analysis. Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail. Certifications such as Cisco CCNP or Cisco CCIE are preferred. Flexible schedule, including the ability to work nights and weekends. B.S./M.S. in Engineering and/or Computer Science or equivalent experience. Compensation
Newport Beach, CA: $135,000 – $165,000 Omaha, NE: $116,000 – $141,000 Benefits
