Role Overview The Chief Analytics Officer creates statistical models to predict, classify, quantify, and/or forecast business metrics. Designs modeling studies to address specific business issues determined by consultation with business partners.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, evaluation, and measurement strategy for programs leveraging Medicaid claims and authorization data to drive performance and outcomes.
Serve as a subject matter expert on Connecticut's behavioral health system of care, providing research‑driven insights and guidance.
Advise internal and external executive leadership on behavioral health strategy, policy, and program effectiveness.
Develop and contribute to high‑quality, strategic responses to RFPs, articulating organizational capabilities and value.
Prepare analytical data sets in support of modeling studies and build, test, and validate statistical models.
Develop original algorithms and implement them in systems and tools that will be used to develop new predictive models and provider profiles beyond standard industry tools.
Publish results and address constraints/limitations with high‑level business partners.
Provide high‑level controllership/evaluation of all data produced to ensure established targets are met.
Determine continuous improvement opportunities of current predictive modeling algorithms.
Proactively collaborate with business partners to identify population segments and develop actionable plans to enable the identification of patterns related to quality, use, cost, and other variables.
Minimum Requirements Doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Mathematics, Epidemiology, or equivalent, plus a minimum of 10 years' experience in health care analytics; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Skills, Experiences and Competencies
Advanced expertise with SAS Stat, SAS ETS, SAS Enterprise Miner, or equivalent.
Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Teradata, SQL, SQL Server, or equivalent.
Experience with large complex systems and effective use of multiple environments (PC, server, mainframe, intranet).
Proven ability to design modeling studies and address data quality issues in study design, constructing robust and efficient analytical data sets.
Experience managing the design, development, and continuous improvement of complex healthcare data systems, tools, and reports.
Ability to present meaningful results to a business audience.
Leadership competencies that include collaboration, effective communication across the organization, coordination of multiple work efforts, and translation of business needs into practical applications and solutions.
