We are seeking a technically advanced *IT Infrastructure & Support Engineer* to take ownership of the configuration, validation, and optimisation of integrated IP-based security systems prior to deployment.
This is not a basic build-and-box role. You will be responsible for architecting, configuring, hardening, and performance-testing CCTV, Access Control, Intruder, and Intercom systems within a controlled pre-build environment — ensuring they are secure, scalable, and deployment-ready.
Alongside security systems engineering, you will play a key role in managing and improving our internal IT infrastructure, supporting hybrid cloud environments, virtualised systems, and network architecture.
This position suits someone who is equally comfortable configuring VLANs and firewalls as they are commissioning VMS platforms and troubleshooting SIP-based intercom systems.
*Core Responsibilities*
*Security Systems Engineering (Pre-Build & Validation)*
* Pre-Build configuration of IP-based CCTV, Access Control, Intruder and Intercom platforms prior to deployment by our in house engineers.
* Configure network topology including VLAN segmentation, firewall rules, routing, NAT and VPN access
* Implement secure remote access solutions and hardened configurations
* Validate firmware, patch levels and cybersecurity posture prior to site deployment
* Test system resilience, redundancy, failover and storage performance
* Pre-stage cloud-connected security platforms and hybrid integrations
* Produce configuration documentation, network diagrams and deployment packs
* Evaluate and benchmark new hardware, VMS platforms and access control technologies
* Provide Tier 3 technical escalation support to field engineers
*IT Infrastructure & Systems Administration*
* Administer and optimise internal infrastructure (Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy)
* Manage Microsoft 365 tenant including SharePoint, Exchange Online, conditional access and security policies
* Support hybrid identity (on-prem AD + Azure AD / Entra ID)
* Maintain and optimise virtualised environments (VMware / Hyper-V)
* Manage backup solutions, disaster recovery strategy and business continuity planning
* Maintain core network infrastructure (Layer 2/3 switching, VLANs, trunking, firewall policy, VPN, SD-WAN where applicable)
* Oversee endpoint provisioning, MDM policies, and lifecycle management
* Implement cybersecurity best practices including MFA, least-privilege access, system hardening and vulnerability remediation
* Lead internal IT improvement projects from design to deployment
*Digital & Technical Systems Support*
* Administer internal helpdesk and documentation systems
* Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support to engineers and key customers
* Assist with website infrastructure and hosting environments
* Manage and optimise company digital platforms and social channels
*Technical Skills & Experience*
*Essential*
* Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching and VLAN segmentation
* Experience configuring firewalls and secure remote access (VPN, port forwarding, NAT policies)
* Advanced Windows administration experience
* Experience managing Microsoft 365 / hybrid environments
* Good knowledge of VOIP telephony systems
* Virtualisation experience (VMware or Hyper-V)
* Strong troubleshooting methodology across network, system and application layers
* Understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure system design
*Highly Desirable*
* Experience with Enterprise level IP-based CCTV, Access Control & Intercom Systems
* Knowledge of ONVIF, SIP, RTSP and related protocols
* Experience with PowerShell scripting and task automation
* Familiarity with backup & disaster recovery solutions
* Experience within the electronic security integration sector
*Personal Profile*
* Analytical and methodical in approach
* Strong documentation discipline
* Comfortable working at both architectural and hands-on levels
* Proactive and solutions-driven
* Able to manage multiple technical streams simultaneously
*Why This Role Stands Out*
* Genuine technical ownership of pre-deployment security builds
* Influence over infrastructure standards and cybersecurity posture
* Exposure to emerging IP security and hybrid cloud technologies
* Opportunity to shape internal IT strategy
