Job Description
The Retirement Plan Consultant serves as the main contact and compliance expert for employer-sponsored retirement plans, including 401(k), 403(b), profit-sharing, and Pooled Employer Plans (PEPs). This role ensures regulatory compliance while providing consulting and client service for both single-employer and pooled plans.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary consultant for plan sponsors and participating employers in PEPs.
- Provide guidance on plan design, compliance testing, and fiduciary best practices.
- Perform annual compliance testing and prepare Form 5500 filings.
- Oversee onboarding and administration of adopting employers in PEPs.
- Collaborate with Pooled Plan Providers, recordkeepers, and custodians.
- Advise on plan mergers, terminations, and compliance corrections.
- Stay current on legislative and regulatory updates impacting retirement plans.
Essential Skills
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance in retirement plans.
- Expertise in compliance testing software.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 4–8 years of experience in retirement plan administration with a TPA or recordkeeper.
- Experience managing both single-employer and pooled employer plans (PEPs).
- Professional certifications such as QKA, QPA, CPC, APA, APR are preferred.
- Proficiency with Relius, FTWilliam, ASC, and Microsoft Excel.
Work Environment
This is a 100% remote role. The company is based out of West Des Moines and employs approximately 40 people, with around 10 on the TPA side.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Des Moines, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.25 - $33.65/hr.
