Overview

The Engineering Systems Manager will have responsibility to create and lead the strategic roll‑out, management and implementation of the in‑house Asset Care Strategy, championing operational excellence and best practice standards across Veolia's Irish operations and reporting progress directly to the Senior Leadership team.


This role focuses on working in partnership with our clients to ensure maintenance strategies are developed following best practice and compliant with all statutory requirements while delivering sustainable, energy‑efficient asset management solutions across our client sites, implementing world‑class Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and driving digital transformation initiatives.


The role holder will create digital solutions and provide exceptional support to Ireland senior management internal teams and external clients through effective asset management strategy, maintenance system management, while proactively identifying improvement opportunities and implementing industry‑leading solutions.


Day to Day Role

  • Client relationship management, particularly in mobilising new business.
  • Manage and develop the Engineering Support team to deliver high‑quality technical services.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
  • Provide expert technical support to all work streams and maintenance teams.
  • Ensure the delivery, deployment and management of the Veolia Asset Care Strategy across all Irish business operations and report progress directly to the Ireland Senior Leadership team.
  • Represent Ireland within the wider Veolia Asset Care group, ensuring alignment with global standards and initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and optimise internal and external CMMS platforms.
  • Drive standardisation of maintenance systems and processes across all contracts.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Introduce reliability best practices using the Veolia Asset Maturity Assessment framework.
  • Apply maintenance strategies such as Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Implement comprehensive lifecycle management strategies for equipment across all sites.
  • Advise and oversee design, operation, and maintenance phases to optimise asset performance and longevity.
  • Develop long‑term maintenance planning tools, forecasting techniques, and predictive analytics.
  • Identify, analyse, and communicate common equipment failures and operational findings.
  • Define and prioritise continuous improvement projects in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Drive a proactive approach to problem‑solving and operational optimisation.
  • Develop and generate KPI reports for all contracts, including external clients and internal sites, with summarised Senior Management reports.
  • Create and communicate new initiatives, innovations, and solutions to key stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Develop relationships across all operational and business lines to drive Asset Care strategies and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in reliability networks to share learnings, best practices, and innovative solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Third level qualification in Science, Engineering or equivalent is essential.
  • Proven track record in creating asset care management strategies and implementing and driving asset care excellence across operational sites.
  • Extensive knowledge of preventative maintenance strategies, asset reliability principles, and work management processes.
  • Experience in implementing, configuring, and maintaining CMMS software platforms.
  • Skilled in evaluating asset performance data to identify improvement opportunities and drive operational efficiency.
  • Proven ability to develop and propose innovative, practical solutions that deliver measurable results.
  • Strong track record of identifying improvement opportunities, generating creative ideas, and successfully implementing solutions.
  • Commitment to staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practice methodologies.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to set and maintain high personal performance standards.
  • Consistently delivers desired results while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in cross‑functional environments.
  • Strong IT capabilities including Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and other business applications.
