We are expanding and opening a new location on the west coast, in Seattle, WA.
Our Veterinary Technicians are responsible for performing basic medical, diagnostic, and laboratory procedures under the direction of a licensed veterinarian.
This is a *full-time* position; $30.00 - 35.00 per hour
*Essential Job Duties:*
* Prepare exam rooms and assist in appointments with doctors.
* Take history from client. Perform physical assessments and record observations legibly in medical record.
* Educate clients on preventative healthcare recommendations and provide follow up.
* Communicate any patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
* Perform venipuncture to collect blood samples, perform in house laboratory tests, and prepare all forms to be sent to outside labs, call owner with results as requested by veterinarian.
* Provide and monitor all nursing care as requested by veterinarian for patients admitted to hospital, including medications (all routes) and monitoring.
* Admit and discharge patients to hospital by following all admission and discharge protocols. Educate clients on admit/discharge.
* Clean and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, hospital wards and other areas as requested.
* Must have proficient knowledge of practice software for dispensing veterinarian approved medication, patient food, printing treatment sheets, discharge instructions, cage card labels, x ray and lab labels, recording communication with client and doctors, and others as directed by veterinarian.
* Must have clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
* Perform diagnostic imaging as requested by veterinarian.
* Perform tech appointments, such as pedicures, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, routine lab work, subcutaneous fluids, etc. as deemed appropriate by practice
* Assist doctors in medical and diagnostic procedures.
* Place IV catheters and begin fluid therapy when required by veterinarian.
* Assist in induction and maintenance of general anesthesia with doctor present.
* Assist in operating room, recovery, and post op-nursing care as requested by veterinarian.
* Perform client callbacks and updates as requested.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
*Essential Skills and Experience:*
* Must be licensed veterinary technician in the state of Washington
* At least 3 years of clinical veterinary hospital experience required.
* Excellent listening and communication skills.
* Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
* Must be flexible and able to adapt to new situations.
* Ability to multitask.
* Ability to act as a team player.
* Basic veterinary medical terminology required.
