The Staff Enterprise Data Engineer is a senior individual contributor who plays a critical hybrid role within the Enterprise Data Management (EDM) team. This position leads the development and evolution of enterprise data foundations through strong technical design, data engineering expertise, and partnership with Data Governance and EDM leadership, while remaining hands-on in the delivery of complex data solutions. The role blends advanced design judgment and platform thinking with hands-on execution to ensure enterprise data standards are implemented through scalable, reusable engineering solutions.
This role contributes to enterprise data architecture principles, data definitions, and lifecycle governance across priority platforms and core data domains. Success requires comfort operating across strategy, design, and execution-providing technical leadership through influence, mentorship, and example rather than formal authority. Core Responsibilities Lead the development and application of enterprise data architecture patterns, standards, and governance models in partnership with EDM leadership. Contribute to the evolution of enterprise data definitions, hierarchies, architecture principles, and data quality standards across assigned domains. Serve as a senior technical advisor on data structure, integration, and design trade-offs, providing recommendations to inform enterprise decisions. Perform hands-on engineering work within enterprise data platforms and tools to implement, validate, and reinforce standards. Partner closely with Data Engineering, IT Architecture, Analytics, and business stakeholders to design reusable, scalable, platform-oriented data solutions. Identify and remediate data anti-patterns, technical debt, and inconsistent practices within existing solutions. Support the transition from ad-hoc solutions to shared enterprise platforms through strong design judgment and execution. Act as a technical multiplier by mentoring and guiding data administrators and engineers through standards, patterns, and best practices without formal people management responsibility. Balance near-term delivery needs with longer-term enterprise data maturity and sustainability within assigned platforms and domains. Contribute to multi-cloud data solutions across Oracle and Azure environments. Qualifications
8-10+ years of experience across enterprise data management, data architecture, data governance, or data engineering roles with demonstrated impact at scale. Proven ability to operate at a senior individual contributor level across design, engineering, and governance while remaining hands-on. Strong experience designing scalable data platforms and identifying anti-patterns and technical debt. Comfort switching between strategic problem-solving and hands-on execution (hands-on-keyboard work). Ability to influence across IT and business teams through technical expertise, judgment, and collaboration rather than authority. Experience working within enterprise data ecosystems such as Oracle, Azure, and analytics platforms. Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Company Values:
Must adhere to The Gorilla Glue Company's Core Values that ensure everyone works together to exceed expectations.
