The Role
The position reports into the Transaction Manager, VP of Finance and Head of Finance depending on the work stream and ultimately the CFO and will work closely with a number of different stakeholders. The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
Transactions
- Review of all transaction documents for aircraft acquisitions, aircraft disposals, restructurings, debt refinancings etc to identify and resolve tax risks. Identify clauses and suggest edits to address the risk.
- Manage jurisdictional tax considerations given the global nature of the business by managing tax advisors, assessing risk, and documenting positions.
- Support the senior management with tax structuring and considerations for new funds, new strategies, ABS, Co-invest structures etc.
- Tax registration/set up for new aircraft owning entities/other entities in group as set up for new transactions.
Compliance/reporting
- Ownership of global tax compliance requirements across the jurisdictions for funds, Aircraft owning entities and management companies, including but not limited to:
- Corporate income tax
- Withholding taxes
- Transfer pricing
- VAT/Sales and use taxes
- Tax presence in the following jurisdictions (among others)
- US
- Ireland
- India
- Manage the annual tax compliance reporting cycle with external advisors to ensure all filings occur accurately, in full and on time across all jurisdictions.
- Oversight of investor driven tax reporting/filings (K1s, 1020s, E&P estimates etc).
Other
- Prepare deferred tax workings for quarterly accounts for Aircraft owning entities and S110 structures covering
- Prepare projections to ensure maximising tax efficiencies.
- Review financial statements tax disclosures to ensure accuracy and completeness of notes included.
- Ad hoc tax projects as they arise in a fast-growing environment on new launches, portfolio acquisitions including completion of first phase tax due diligence and managed 2nd phase tax due diligence that is completed by external advisors etc.
- Support generation and enhancement of tax models used by the business, including input into system updates for any tax reporting impacts.
- Supporting tax audits, enquiries and information requests from tax authorities
- Monitoring tax legislation and attendance of industry update events to remain current with knowledge and flag relevant upcoming tax changes and impacts.
- Reviewing tax risks and taking steps to ensure tax risk is appropriately managed withing the groups risk appetite levels
The Person
The candidate should be/have:
- Qualified Chartered Tax Accountant (CTA) and qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) or equivalent with experience working in industry or in practice with 1+ years PQE, ideally in an aircraft leasing-related role
- Strong understanding of
- Fund and partnership taxation
- Cross border investment structures
- Investor reporting considerations
- Experience managing external service providers, and coordinating multi-jurisdictional compliance
- Ability to communicate complex tax matters to non-tax stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and project management skills along with ability to work independently and also as part of a high performing team,
