Fire and Gas Detection Technologies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead the full lifecycle of our industrial safety products—from concept through development, launch, and continuous improvement. This role is critical in driving innovation, product quality, and portfolio performance within an ISO 9001-certified manufacturing environment.
In this highly cross-functional role, you will collaborate with engineering, R&D, supply chain, finance, and sales to align product strategy, manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), support New Product Introduction (NPI), and optimize the product portfolio. You will also analyze product performance, incorporate Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback, and lead initiatives that improve cost efficiency, quality, and market competitiveness.
This is a fully remote position with approximately 10% travel required for customer visits, trade shows, and partner or manufacturing site engagements, both domestically and internationally.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Own and manage the end-to-end product lifecycle (ideation through post-launch optimization)
* Lead Voice of Customer (VOC) efforts and translate insights into product requirements
* Coordinate New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
* Partner cross-functionally to align on product specifications, timelines, and cost targets
* Develop technical documentation, training materials, and application notes
* Analyze product performance using KPIs, customer feedback, and market trends
* Drive SKU rationalization, cost reduction, and product portfolio optimization
* Support compliance with industry standards and certifications (e.g., UL, ISO)
* Serve as the internal subject matter expert and provide product training
*Qualifications*
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
* 7+ years of experience in product management, preferably in instrumentation, fire, or gas detection industries
* Proven experience leading NPI and managing complex product portfolios
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, product costing, and pricing strategies
* Familiarity with industry standards and certifications (UL, ISO, fire safety codes)
* Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with data/AI tools is a plus
* Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills
* Experience with ERP or product management systems preferred
