Job Description Fulfil
is hiring an Electrical Controls Engineer to design and support industrial control systems and UL 508A compliant control panels for our automation platforms. In this role, you will own the design, documentation, and validation of control panels and electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards including UL 508A, NFPA 79, and NEC (NFPA 70). You will work closely with cross‑functional engineering teams to bring reliable, scalable automation systems to life.
In This Role You Will
Design industrial control panels in compliance with UL 508A, NFPA 79, and NEC (NFPA 70)
Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials
Perform short‑circuit current rating (SCCR) calculations
Select and specify control system components including breakers, contactors, PLCs, safety relays, and power supplies
Design motor control systems, emergency stop circuits, safety circuits, and power distribution architectures
Ensure compliance with NFPA 79 requirements for wiring methods, disconnects, grounding, overcurrent protections, and safety circuits
Collaborate with PLC software engineers to integrate controls functionality
Support panel builds and work closely with contract panel shops
Support panel certification and labeling processes
Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues during system bring‑up, commissioning, and deployment
Support installation and commissioning at customer sites as needed
Promote safe engineering practices and ensure compliance with applicable electrical safety standards
What We're Looking For
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
5+ years of professional work experience
Strong working knowledge of UL 508A, NFPA 79, and NEC (NFPA 70)
Experience performing SCCR calculations and protection coordination
Hands‑on experience designing and documenting control panels and industrial machine wiring systems
Experience with motor control systems
Familiarity with PLC hardware platforms (SICK, Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet, Modbus, CAN, etc.)
Experience with functional safety in accordance with ISO 13849 or IEC 62061
Proficiency in electrical CAD tools (SolidWorks Electrical or similar)
Strong troubleshooting skills and practical experience with industrial electrical systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to travel 15% of the time
What We'd Love To See
Experience working in a UL 508A panel shop environment
Direct experience applying NFPA 79 to design and installations
Familiarity with UL field evaluations and inspection processes
Experience supporting high‑volume manufacturing or scalable panel production
Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 13849 and IEC 61508)
Prior experience in robots or automated industrial systems
Experience in a fast‑paced startup environment
Not afraid of robots

The salary range for this position is $127,000 - $165,000 plus stock and benefits. Pay within the range is based on candidate experience, job‑specific skills, education, and work location.
