Job Description The QA Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software applications through thorough testing and validation. The candidate will work closely with cross‑functional teams—including developers, business analysts, and project managers—to identify test requirements, create and execute test plans, and ensure the successful delivery of high‑quality software products. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
This position is remote but may require occasional onsite meetings in McLean, VA.
Eligible to work from AZ, DC, FL, GA, OH, ME, MD, SC, TX, UT, VA, NC, OK, WV.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
At least 4 years of experience in software testing or a related role.
Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and tools.
Proficiency in manual and automated testing techniques.
Experience with test management and bug tracking tools such as JIRA, TestRail, or similar.
Good understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a government contracting environment and familiarity with legacy platforms such as IBM ODM, JSP, Spring, Oracle WebLogic, and HL7‑driven interfaces.
Experience with automated test execution and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, and GitHub Actions, including xUnit, JUnit, and TestNG.
Experience testing APIs and services using REST‑assured and SOAP UI.
Experience with UI and end‑to‑end test automation using Selenium or Playwright.
Experience with performance and load testing using JMeter.
Familiarity with service‑level test harnesses and HL7 integration validation.
Experience with test management, reporting, and traceability using Jira and Confluence with Xray or Zephyr.
Exposure to enterprise and legacy application technologies such as JSP, Spring, Apache Struts, Hibernate, and Oracle WebLogic.
Exposure to healthcare and legacy system environments, including HL7 and MUMPS (VistA).
Responsibilities Test Planning and Design
Develop comprehensive test plans and test cases based on project requirements and specifications.
Identify test requirements and create detailed test scenarios to validate end‑to‑end functionality.
Test Execution
Execute manual and automated test cases to ensure software functionality, reliability, and performance.
Perform thorough data validation to ensure accuracy and integrity of data within software applications.
Record and document test results accurately, identifying any defects or issues.
Defect Management
Report and track defects using bug tracking tools, collaborating with developers to ensure timely resolution.
Retest resolved issues to confirm proper fixes and validate that no new issues have been introduced.
Collaboration
Work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure understanding of requirements and alignment on test objectives.
Participate in project meetings, providing updates on testing progress and results.
Continuous Improvement
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in testing and quality assurance.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve testing processes and methodologies.
Documentation
Maintain comprehensive documentation of test plans, test cases, test results, and defect reports.
Ensure all documentation is clear, concise, and easily accessible to relevant stakeholders.
