FUNCTION:
Assist in managing all Quality, Environmental Safety and Health issues and assist operations team to ensure all requirements of JFT's ESH&Q program are adhered to.
REPORTING TO:
Director of Quality
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Gather needed certifications and documents required for our ISO 9001:2015 and NQA-1 quality programs.
Review and approve quality paperwork.
Review's customer PO/specifications against internal write-ups for completeness & clarity of the QA requirements.
Manage projects for quality requirements (valves/instrumentation/gloveboxes/components/systems)
Participate in pre-inspection meetings with customers establishing witness and hold points. Jointly resolves or clarifies specification differences, etc.
Issuing Quality Plans for product components in the form of QA Codes and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) to upstream and downstream departments.
Create/review the product assembly traveler/work orders, which details specific customer testing & witnessing, as applicable.
Assemble necessary final QA documentation as a document package for the customer witness/hold-points and at time of shipment.
Be involved in the Continual Improvement Process (CIP) for QA.
Participate in Audits of JFT quality management program - ISO, ASME, NQA-1 etc.
Become certified to audit suppliers of products and services for compliance to codes / national / international standards / regulatory requirements.
Create JFT procedures / documents / travelers for: engineering, inspection (receiving & final), inventory control, manufacturing, welding, assembly, shipping, purchasing, etc.
Review, approve and release incoming product and documentation for compliance to PO / regulatory requirements.
Create methods for the collection and analysis of statistical data for ongoing quality improvement.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Sr. QA Engineer will work in a fabrication shop environment as well as an office environment. The fabrication shop may involve exposure to heavy machinery, welding operations, and metal or plastic fabrication processes. The role requires strict adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Occasional travel may be required to vendor locations to perform inspections or audits. JFT has implemented a 9/80 work schedule, and the office is closed every other Friday.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to stand for extended periods, walk throughout the shop floor, and move between different workstations.
Bending, kneeling, and crouching may be required to inspect different components or areas.
May involve lifting and carrying objects, typically up to 50 pounds as well as the ability to use hand tools and inspection equipment that may require physical strength.
Manual dexterity is essential for handling small parts, tools, and precision instruments.
Vision, including color perception, depth perception, and the ability to focus on small details is required.
The ability to hear instructions, alarms, or equipment sounds that indicate potential issues.
Requires sustained concentration to ensure detailed inspections.
Must be able to work on a computer and use standard office equipment.
Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers and vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent,
3 years of experience working within an ISO 9001 quality management system.
QA experience in the application of NQA-1 is a plus
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management and internal groups.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Have a knowledge of national/international code requirements, i.e., ASME or ISO
Have a knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, PED, ASME, NQA-1 Regulatory Requirements)
NDT experience including magnetic particle, liquid penetrant or leak testing. (MT, PT, LT) is desired.
Patience in dealing with other people.

This role requires immediate and routine access to restricted information under federal law, including but not limited to Export Controlled Information (ECI), Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information (UCNI), Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Department of Energy Official Use Only (DOE OUO), and/or ITAR‑controlled technical data. Under applicable DOE orders and client contracts, non‑U.S. citizen candidates (including lawful permanent residents) may require an approved DOE Foreign National Visit/Assignment (FNVA) before beginning work or accessing project information. Because this position requires immediate access and project timelines do not accommodate new government approval processing, JFT may be unable to initiate or sponsor new FNVA approval processes or defer start dates pending FNVA approval for this role. Accordingly, hiring and placement into this role is contingent on the candidate's eligibility to access the required information and facilities as of the start date, including having any required government approvals already in place.
