Service Packaging Engineer

EMEA Recruitment has partnered with a global leader in packaging solutions in its search for a Service Packaging Engineer.

Our client delivers innovative packaging across food, dairy, and healthcare sectors, supporting customers with high-performance materials and technical expertise to optimise manufacturing processes and product quality.

As the Service Packaging Engineer, you will support customers across Ireland and the UK, providing technical expertise on packaging performance, machine interaction, and process optimisation.

You will act as a consultative partner to customers, helping diagnose packaging and process challenges, improve quality outcomes, and enhance overall production efficiency.

The Service Packaging Engineer will work closely with customer operations, leveraging your understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and machinery interaction to deliver practical, value-driven solutions.

This role is home-based, with regular travel across Ireland and the UK.

• Provide on-site technical support to customers, advising on packaging performance, quality issues, and process optimisation
  
• Act as a consultative partner, analysing packaging failures and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste
  
• Support customers in understanding the interaction between packaging materials and machinery, including temperature, sealing, and process settings
  
• Work across a range of packaging formats, including rigid plastics, flexible packaging, and film applications
  
• Build strong customer relationships across key accounts within food, dairy, and healthcare sectors
  
• Collaborate with internal teams across supply chain, operations, and commercial functions to ensure effective customer support
  
• Travel regularly across Ireland and the UK to support customer sites, maintaining a strong on-the-ground presence

• Experience within the packaging industry, ideally across plastics, rigid packaging, or flexible/film applications
  
• Understanding of packaging processes within manufacturing environments, particularly in food, dairy, or related sectors
  
• Ability to take a consultative, problem-solving approach to customer challenges rather than hands‑on mechanical intervention
  
• Exposure to packaging machinery and an understanding of how materials interact with equipment (e.g. sealing, forming, wrapping)
  
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence customers
  
• Comfortable working in a field‑based role with regular travel across Ireland and the UK
  
• Background in packaging engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical discipline
