We are seeking a Data & Analytics Director, to own and evolve our enterprise data strategy and analytics capabilities. This leader partners with business and IT stakeholders to ensure our data ecosystem is available, reliable, scalable, and secure, while driving adoption of advanced analytics, including statistical analysis, machine learning, and data modeling, to support enterprise decision-making and a data-driven culture.
What does a DATA & ANALYTICS DIRECTOR do?
Own and continuously refine GAINSCO’s data strategy and roadmap, aligning priorities to long-term business objectives.
Partner with business and IT leadership to prioritize data initiatives, monitor progress, and drive measurable outcomes.
Serve as a trusted consultant on enterprise-wide analytics topics and help integrate industry trends and modern data technologies.
Enable advanced analytics across departments by guiding modeling approaches, tools, and data usage (predictive modeling, machine learning, data mining).
Lead and/or oversee exploratory analysis to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities; translate findings into clear business insights.
Create and promote data visualization best practices and ensure analysis is communicated effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
Provide horizontal leadership across the organization’s analytics community—supporting collaboration, mentorship, and capability development.
Establish and enforce data governance and security practices (quality, integrity, confidentiality, metadata, and access controls).
Build processes to operationalize recurring reporting and persistent ad-hoc analysis into scalable solutions.
Maintain stakeholder communication, manage expectations, and ensure cross-functional alignment on goals, success measures, and delivery.
What is required? Education
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, Accounting/Finance, or related discipline required.
Experience
10+ years progressively responsible experience in Data science or Business Analytics field.
5+ years of direct leadership experience in data and analytics required.
Experience leading analytics in regulated or risk‑driven industries (e.g., insurance, healthcare, financial services) preferred, including exposure to forecasting, performance analysis, or operational optimization required.
Experience with visualization tools such as Power BI and/or Tableau required.
Proficiency in Python or R required.
Proficiency in SQL; experience with relational and NoSQL databases required.
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and cloud-based data platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP/Snowflake) required.
Other skills and abilities
Experience with customer data management / CRM systems.
Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, machine learning, and data modeling techniques.
Strong communication skills with ability to translate complex findings for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to travel domestically as needed.
