Data Engineer

Data Engineer for Chesterfield, MO to integrate, transform, validate, evaluate & reconcile agronomic data to derive insights, solutions and visualizations for crop protection R&D projects; conduct data cleaning & processing to understand and organize data formats, source systems and file sizes; identify data trends, quality issues & anomalies across large data sets; evaluate limitations of existing data sources & provide recommendations to research groups to address unmet data needs; develop data reports based on modeling inputs & outputs and business indicators; write research code. Requires Bachelor’s in C.S., Computer Engineering, Data Science or closely-related field & 3 yrs experienceperforming data warehousing and data modeling in SQL and NoSQL databases; working with big data tools, including Spark, Kafka and/or Flink; developing algorithms & data structures; authoring workflows & pipelines using Airflow; working with Cloud services, including AWS, GCP, S3, RedShift and/or EC2; writing code in Python, Java, R and/or Scala; running production cloud systems & diagnosing and fixing problems; applying software development techniques, including Git version control, Agile & DevOps methodologies, code documentation and review, and database management, to integrate, transform and optimize complex agronomic datasets for downstream research and development; and pre-processing, cleaning & structuring trial data to facilitate data exploration, advanced analytics and/or machine learning activities.
