Position:
Sr/Lead Security Design Specialist
(Hybrid – mostly remote, occasional visits to Boeing facilities).
Locations: Seattle, WA; North Charleston, SC; Everett, WA; Long Beach, CA; Huntington Beach, CA; Seal Beach, CA. (Prefer West Coast but will consider candidates near any Boeing facility in the US.)
Primary focus: design, develop, integrate and maintain security technical controls in varied IT environments, ensuring compliance with perimeter security standards and policies. Provide technical solutions and consult on security posture for external clients.
Position Responsibilities
Provide technical solutions to enforce security requirements and policy compliance.
Implement and validate security controls to meet governance standards.
Consult with customer organizations and evaluate security posture of emerging technologies.
Participate in creation and review of design data (threat models, data flow diagrams, requirements) and recommend designs that reduce or eliminate security risk.
Communicate effectively with customers, architects, IT organizations, and suppliers.
Apply knowledge of security policy compliance (DFARS/CMMC, SOX, etc.) and frameworks (NIST CSF) to technology implementation.
Utilize end‑to‑end knowledge of network transport technologies, systems, environments, services and protocols for planning, design, integration and maintenance.
Basic Qualifications (Must-Have)
≥9 years of experience with VPN remote access.
≥9 years managing firewalls and application load balancers.
≥9 years of network experience with routing, security policy, ACLs.
Export‑control compliance: must be a “US Person” per 22 C.F.R. (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
Experience with Cisco Firepower and Palo Alto Networks.
Experience with F5 load balancing.
Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to interpret and correlate logs from multiple sources.
Experience with AAA (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting).
Experience across multiple firewall vendors.
Basic coding/scripting in Python, Perl, PowerShell, or C#.
Relevant technical or security certifications.
Understanding of security best practices, threats, and mitigation techniques.
Strong analytical and integration skills.
Experience managing application/server lifecycle.
Familiarity with cloud, containers, and DevSecOps.
Experience with factory/building automation (ICS, IoT) security needs.
Excellent communication and collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary and variable compensation. Total rewards include health insurance, flexible spending accounts, HSA, retirement plans, life and disability insurance, and paid/unpaid time off, varying by location and eligibility.
Pay ranges by region: Seattle/LA/Orange County/Dallas – $148K – $190K; St. Louis – $138K – $177K.
