About Us At Fileread, we’re building an AI-first platform for litigation teams that unlocks insights buried in complex case data and accelerates how teams work together. Our product helps surface critical narratives, expose gaps early, and move cases forward with more clarity and speed.
Position Overview We’re looking for a QA Consultant to help us ship high-quality, reliable AI products at startup velocity. You will own testing strategy, run hands-on QA, coordinate cross-functional release readiness, and partner closely with engineering to catch issues early and raise the bar across the product.
This role will be in-person/hybrid (3 days in office) in New York City.
Key Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end QA strategy, including test planning, execution, and continuous improvement across the product
Take full responsibility for product quality by proactively identifying bugs, edge cases, and performance issues before they reach users
Own pre-release QA coordination — organize testing assignments across engineering, define go/no-go criteria, and run structured release readiness checkpoints for major releases
Work side by side with engineering, product, and data teams to drive fast, effective resolution of issues
Maintain clear, structured documentation of test coverage, results, and known risks, ensuring full visibility across the team
Raise quality standards by identifying gaps in current processes and implementing scalable improvements
Stay ahead of modern QA tools, frameworks, and best practices, and apply them to strengthen the testing approach
Act as a quality advocate across the team, setting expectations and guiding others toward a high bar for product excellence
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven track record in a QA role, preferably with AI, machine learning, or software products.
Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Playwright Agents, PyTest, etc.).
Experience with or strong interest in integrating AI into QA workflows (e.g., Playwright Agents, Claude Computer Use, AI-assisted test generation)
Experience coordinating QA across multiple engineers or teams for releases, including defining test plans, assigning coverage areas, and tracking completion.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Must be willing to work EST hours (core hours 11am-5pm) and occasionally work weekend / after-hour QA's on major releases.
Salary This is a consultant engagement at 35 hours/week, ET hours (core hours 11am–5pm), with occasional weekend QA on major releases. There is a path to a FTE role based on mutual fit.
