The Opportunity In this role, you may have the opportunity to:
Function as a QA/QC engineer within the substation quality management group (QMG).
Perform QA/QC of substation design packages, including physical design and protective relaying/control with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
Collaborate with the substation design team.
The ideal candidate will be located or willing to relocate to one of the following U.S. Central Region offices: Overland Park, KS; Chicago, IL; Bloomington, MN; Dallas, TX; Austin, TX; Houston, TX; College Station, TX.
Key Responsibilities
Continuously develop knowledge and provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies.
Apply B&V quality program to assigned tasks, provide related guidance, and support continuous improvement and change management.
Prepare engineering deliverables for multiple projects, perform research, develop equipment/material selection recommendations, and manage data for engineering work.
Prepare engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
Manage assigned budget, schedule and quality requirements.
Lead production teams, coordinate multi‑disciplinary activity, and serve as the responsible charge for a project when applicable.
Coordinate with internal and external teams on moderately complex projects.
Identify key client interests for high‑voltage substation projects, communicate those to the project team, and develop approaches to accommodate client concerns.
Provide support to business development or pursuit activities and offer other services to clients.
Act as a technical specialist, design or support projects on complex technical challenges.
Mentor lower‑level professionals and develop succession plans.
Assist with performance management process, training, and career planning.
Assist with resource management strategy and engineer resources for small groups of a single discipline.
Administrative Responsibilities
Ensure policies, procedures and processes are effectively implemented and communicated.
Ensure adherence to corporate and division programs.
Approve timesheets and expense reports.
Preferred Qualifications
Substation QA/QC reviews (quality assurance / quality checks)
Substation design experience – physical and/or protection & controls
Experience coordinating and communicating with clients, multidisciplinary leads and project managers
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Proficient with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search, as applicable).
Work Environment / Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.

Compensation Annual compensation range: $103,987.00 – $201,080.00.
